Anchorage, Alaska

Anchorage is a beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking place. I felt like I was dropped right into National Geographic Magazine! The culture is very different from sunny Los Angeles. The first thing I noticed was the conservative nature of AK. Its March, Obama is President and, yet, I still saw Mccain/Palin signs outside homes. In order to live in AK you have to love the outdoors and be a hiking/biking/camping/skiing person, willing to experience the outdoors in any weather! For me, I draw the line at studded bicycle tires! There was one thing I found very odd: the local mall. There was a 10-lane bowling alley, stuffed bears and moose (I’m talking taxidermy), and a public library all inside the same mall. And, of course since you were in National Geographic Magazine, when you stepped outside into the parking lot, like many parking lots in Anchorage, the view was of perfectly snow-dusted mountaintops. The great contrasts between the inner and outer existents of the mall lead me to believe that it might have been a glitch in the Matrix.
Here are a couple more photos from my trip. Flickr album to come!
